Is the ticking happening at half engine speed ? It could be a cam follower or less likely a sticking valve ?? Some engines had a damaged O ring on the oil pick up pipe which sucks in a small amount of air that can cause noisy followers !!

That's not the coil packs, that's the ht leads, the coil packs on the front bank are just above them underneath the plastic engine cover, they're not directly on top of the spark plugs at the front....... well they weren't when I changed mine

HT Leads, connected onto the front bank of 3 spark plugs
