i have a brand new rear lower brace for zs, id forgot about it tbh.
Its different to the one pictured, in that it bolts using o.e holes so no drilling and its adjustable so if you wanted to drive like a loon on wet roads and thought it was dentrimental to the handling in the wet you could slack it off a turn.
Sie ran one on his track zs and it certainly did not affect the handling in any negative way wether it was wet or dry and i know lunar use them and rate them as i discussed it with pete. Its a standard fit item on the teg dc2 which is basically the same chassis so you have to assume it does something.

Still in box and unused.
30 quid plus p and p.
p.m me anyone whos interested in it.

They do work on track, but you will notice an adverse effect in the wet on a bumpy road.

On a car that came std with them, the manufacturer has already dialled safety into the equation.

The zs hasnt had the benefit of a tweak from the manufacturer to run this item on the road.

Stiffening suspension in the wet will compromise handling. its a known fact.

If its for track use then fine, but for road use, its not needed.

I have never had a std zs 180 give any issues on the road.

to notice any negative effect (if it even existed)on any wet road you would have to be driving like you were lewis hamilton.
All this brace does is remove a tiny amount of chassis flex, and the chassis wont be flexing like crazy anyway at normal road speeds in the wet because to generate any huge amount of chassis flex you need a dry road so you can actually generate some grip from the tyres.
This mod does not alter the suspension or geometry or tyre pressures and these are the critical areas that will effect handling much more than any brace bar. The zs is not an old sloppy escort that flops about like a jelly, its already very stiff as anyone who has jacked up the side front and noticed the rear raise also will know. Sie said he couldnt even tell a difference driving with both upper and lower brace bars fitted on road or on track, thats how small a change were talking here, and sie used to drive pretty blummin quick!

Yes it "could" in theory in certain circumstances be a tiny negative but we are talking a very small percentage of difference between having a brace and not having one as to make it all but irrelevant to the average driver in average conditions, Just altering your tyre pressures a few psi would make much more of a difference to handling and folks dont even notice small tyre pressure changes.
Imo its a decent mod for the enthusiastic driver in the dry, in the wet your not settting cross country records anyway, but whatever you just adjust to suit, make allowances and feel the grip gradually.
You would have to be pretty darn stupid to fit a brace bar and torque it up and then go out for the first time on a wet road and drive at ten tenths to see what effect it had, lol.
9 drivers out of 10 if you fitted one of these to their car without their knowledge would never even tell any difference.
Mountain out of a molehill, No the zs doesnt need a brace bar for road use , yes its fine without one, but its also fine on standard wheels and with standard induction and standard springs and standard brakes and standard diff, and changing any of these things could have a negative effect by being altered but generally i think were all still alive here, lol....just because somethings fine doesnt mean it cant be improved, thats the point of modifying...to make something thats average a little more special.

thats a good point, yes i had a full weld in cage which stiffened the car up massively more than any brace bar and that had zero negative effect to my cars on road wet handling....no difference at all.

handling wise, lightweight wheels with 888 tyres , coilovers, quaife lsd , altered geometry for track, altered rake, altered weight distribution and weight reduction,.... even with this track biased set up on track tyres and with coilovers set firm i could cover a wet road quicker than most and so would anbody with a few miles under their belts.
