I smell a rat, one minute it is scrap, the next it is fixed! Whatever they do to the engine make sure it has a warranty against defects etc. Either that or some muppet mis-diagnosed the fault. Glad it is getting done but on the flipside beware.

well the engine has been sent to a mg specalist and they said the damage wasnt as bad as what the first garrage said. So now they we have spent 500 on bits and a full rebuild and the AA said they wont give us a warrenty on the engine as its not been changed but will give me a warenty if it gets past 12,000 miles or last's longer that a year so start saving as im putting in a turbo engine in next time oh apprantly they have put in some special head gasket with some new stonger and longer lasting bead

yeah they have putt 500 towards the work but as the engine should have been replaced and not rebuilt from the condition it was in they wont warrenty my engine if it was to go bang again and the bill for the parts was free as my dad gets all the bits for free so its just labour at the mo

the uprated gasket should be fine provided both mating faces where clean before instalation, but all that for ?500 sounds suspect to me, genuine gasket set with bolts ect is close on ?200 itself

il buy it for ?200 though:P
