Better the devil you know I say............sometimes changing cars isn't the answer as you can easily be buying a moneypit.

I would agree with this, it would be some reassurance to know why it failed, that was why I asked if Kirk had the old bits.

While I understand this, I would look at it like...... Now they are replaced, it is two more parts that wont go wrong for a long time

I see what your saying. I will see how it goes. It looks like the bolt on the Ball Joint sheered off completely. It has two new 'uns on now one each side) so there shouldn't be anything else that can snap/sheer easily. I also noticed that since the said brown trouser moment it feels like my caliper is sticking. I can hear a brake squel type of noise constantly, could this be anything else, before I shell out for a new caliper??
It feels like it is pulling the car up, just like it felt when the back caliper seized, and the disc was quite hot too! (Hotter than normal)

Yup, try the heat shield. Does not take much to bend them slightly, let alone a snapped ball joint. So get a screwdriver in there and bend it back away from the brake disc
When you come to a stop, does the car jump to the side you think is seized? This is classic fault diagnosis for front caliper seizure.
Like I said, happy to help when I can, including tomorrow!

It doesn't move to one side as such but I don't think its stuck completely I think it's a bit sticky. I completely forgot about the heat shield, what a doughnut! It was dark when I got it back so I will have a look as soon as I can. Borrowed the missus' car for work at the mo.
