First calliper split

The connecting bolts were damn tight!

I managed to push the pistons by hand :/ and got the brake fluid out, now I can't get the pistons out enough to take them out.

I'm in two minds wether to do the full calliper refurb to include the pistons now.
If I can get the piston out I'll do it.

Should the copper pipe be bent specially for a new one? Or just do it by hand?

Thinking of just clear coating the copper too as it will look cool against the purple!

Just bend the Copper pipe by hand, it's only a gentle curve, so will go no problem.

Ahh ok! Easy enough.

Any words of wisdom on the pistons :/

It is very easy to kink the copper pipe so either spend lots of money on a pipe bender or bend it around a tin of beans or jam jar or drain pipe or something similar.

We've got a pipe bender for thick plumbing copper pipe!
I'll try the baked bean method instead!
The pipe I took off was kinked a little itself.

I did get one for small bore pipe but it's just as easy on a tin.

If you're worried about it kinking you can get pipe bending springs which fit inside the pipe.

Words of wisdom about the pistons, compressed air will get them out, it would have been easier to do them before splitting the caliper.

Awesome, haha,
Ones not split yet as its proving difficult.
Haven't got compressed air handy.
There's always something with every job!

I didn't know you could get small bore springs but -

Set of 5 spring benders for 1/4", 5/16", 3/8", 1/2" and 5/8" O.D. tubing.

Personally I don't get on with springs, I make the bend to tight and get the spring trapped

Yep, trapped spring, not annoying in the slightest

There are a few other methods of stopping the pipe kinking, you can pack it with sand, works well but needs 110% cleaning out afterwards.
