Any of the 180 bits that you dont need could you pm me, I may be interested as I'm building a 180 race car for my son and you can never have too many spares. Would also be interested in some trim bits off the 420 and even the heater if you got it out whole.
On a seperate note seeing your pictures of the houses and green brought back some memories, I grew up there.

Well... i have not done much so not much to report really.

Im still waiting for the logbook for the 420 so i can scrap it  (and get another £100.00 in the pot).

But Lisa has done some overtime for me so i should have another £150.00 by friday, plus the £100.00 from the 420, so will be back up over the £400.00 mark in the next few days

Worryingly i worked out how much it has cost so far and im almost at a grand :o ... but with sales of parts and scrapping im back to around the £500.00 area... so not bad

What i have started is to do the head rebuild on the 420 head, i want to use this head as its by far the best i have, V79s had been skimmed twice by me and suffered numerous overheats, though it still worked well !

But the 420s head looks like it has never been off or skimmed :mrcool:

So i went out last night and started taking manifolds and such off.

Then today i took it to work, we happen to have a brand new and totally virgin parts washer !

So i thought i would make some use of it at lunchtime

Lots to do yet, but im hoping to give the head a full rebuild by saturday.

Also, i had these turn up via interlink last week.

Plus im waiting on the genuine anabolic sealant for the cam ladders i ordered last night.

Basically, watch this space

Also i have an image in my head...

I stole this from google earlier... i like that look a lot... thoughts

Got the head skimmed at last minute today !

Really chuffed, doesnt look like he took much off it either, total cost of £20.00 cash

Also, at last... got the log book back for the 420, so i can scrap that now

Will continue with the head rebuild tomorrow

Ok i had hoped to get the head finished on Saturday... but its a time consuming business cleaning and lapping in valves.

At least the weather was nice, so i could sit outside on the patio

Unfortunately doing this kind of thing at home makes it an even longer process, what i had forgotten about was removing stem seals...and they where well in there, i tried the old 14mm socket and hammer approach, but i got the damn seal stuck in the socket and no way to remove it

So i went to machine mart... nope ! Halfords... nope.. motorsave, nope, not one of these shops had stem seal pliers, hell no one knew what i was on about when i asked :? yet they had valve spring compressors.. dolly sticks and grinding paste, piston ring compressors... anyway :x

So i went to work at 1pm, and not one person had any... but there was a special tool for Vag stuff that was on the wall which one of the older guys showed me, looked like it could work so swiped it and went back home.

Said tool being a slide hammer type affair... it worked

While i was out i decided to buy myself one of these !

Makes like much easier with recommended speed of 900rpm  though the exhaust valves still take time, the inlets where done in less that 5 seconds.

New stem seals now fitted and valves sitting in there, but only one valve spring actually fitted as it was getting late and i needed to cut the grass and light the bbq

Quite honestly... i looked in to it and it looked a nightmare load of stuff to rip out to get all the parts you would need mate, and time being what it is i decided not to remove it all, the car is full of scrap too lol.

Again... i think i did take the heater box out whole... i will look in the morning and rescue it if i have a chance before work... the car is going tomorrow afternoon at last as i have the logbook now and the extra space is needed to get one of the cars off the road lol.

Wont have much spare from the 180... but i most likely will have cylinder heads if they are ok, passable gearbox and a almost brand new slave cylinder... oh and the rad and stuff.

You lived around here ? where abouts ?? i rent this house and have lived in it for around two years
