Down to you Luke, why pay for a second-hand one, that could end up as bad as the one being taken off.
Least you know you have loads of trouble free miles from the new parts.
Most likely just jealous that you have the dosh to lay out in the first place.

costly but the right thing to do luke,never know the truth with 2nd hand,brand new is my favourite option too mate,just keep the old vis motors for spares,or for us that may need a replacement

Thanks guys for the support, if i can help it I wont buy second hand for all the reasons you have given. Its a shame some people do not share the same opinion

Bah, who cares what the market, or facebook, says our cars are worth. Maintenance is maintenance and I don't see the connection with cars value unless repairing to sell. With that logic, the costs of belts, tyres, exhausts etc, there would be none left on the road at all!
