Engine idleing at 2500rpm when it gets cold.

Hi,

Tonight, and the other day when the temperatures got really cold and icy, i have found the my car seems to be driving itself! At first i thought it was the auto-choke not turning off, but even when ive been driving for a while and the car had properly warmed up its still trying to idle at 2500 RPM!

Found it quite dangerous, especially on the icy roads! It also meant i had litterally no engine braking! Apart from that i looked pretty daft sitting at the traffic lights with my engine racing away lol.

Only really lasted about 5-10 minutes though and then it seems to go away and drive normally.

Any ideas?

Have you over adjusted your throttle cable? if so, loosen the cable a lil bit

I have never touched the throttle cable, its only ever done this when the air temperature gets very cold, say past minus 5. I'll give the ICV a look at tomorrow when i have some free time.
