I picked up a nexus today and a spare center console but powering 4 speakers from a single headphone port seems ott.

But it'll be amplified by the headunit you plug the headphone jack into no?

You'll have to get yourself an amplifier of some sort I'd imagine.
And a 3.5mm to RCA phono cable.
