Squeaks will become famous soon enough
Question Starting issues.

Went out earlier and drove for about a mile through a flooded road, towards the end it got rather deep!

anyways the engine was fine and no signs of any water getting into it.

Parked up at tescos then when i got back to the car a hour later it refused to fire. it kept turning over but would not catch, eventually it went and fired up fine, drove back no problems at all, stopped at post office and went to start it up again, fired but was very slow and sluggish to fire, drove home no problems at all.

so it drives fine, runs fine, but does not like starting.

has it got water in somewhere?

It does seem a coinsidence, but not sure how water would affect starting. Maybe it has splashed up high enough into the engine bay to ingress somewhere.

On a similar note mine has trouble starting at times, very random, but I have put this down to a dirty crank sensor perhaps? But then again I would have thought if playing up it would do it whilst running?

Check you haven't drowned the air filter.

I had a mishap coming home from work last night, I hit some standing water which dislodged the nearside front wheel arch liner and crushed the cold air pipe completely flat, it also soaked the filter, the car still ran ok but with hardly any power.

So this morning I have mainly been cleaning the filter, refitting the liner and replacing the cold air feed.
