Top of the mkII dash
Been looking at pics of the mkIIs dash, could someone tell me what the little door like thing is on top? On the mkI there's a heater vent there. What's behind that door? A gremlin? A portal to another world? A warp engine?
I'm thinking it might be suitable to mod as a home for my sat-nav?

Ah, so that would be redundant on mine then. Hmm. That could work. Cheers mate.

Good point, I wonder if the mkI has a sensor. I'll take a look while the dash is out on Thursday.

that little dome is the sunlight sensor for the automatic climate control, it needs to be in view of the sky for the climate control to work properly
Under the hatch there's a small void but you can run stuff up there. I had my Scangauge wired up to there inside the dash. It's fiddly but possible
