at least it wont fail on the car mats! lol, theyre usually pretty good at going through MOTs so provided exhaust is okay, tyres, brakes and alll bulbs are working should be fine

MOT testers generally go easier on better presented cars, a wash and hoover gives a better impression. On LGV's you may well fail as the tester can't complete the test on a dirty vehicle.

well just been to pick car up from NATIONWIDE and its a fail im gutted, he said brake pipes badly corroded back to front need replacing with a quote of ?200 and they can do it wednesday. Dont have ?200 spare so took it to another garage for a quote they said they really couldnt find anything wrong went over brake lines with a wire brush sprayed with a cleaner and said everything ok and have put it straight back in for a retest 40 mins after a fail so ive left car with them and to go and pick it up later.

I never use those chain type places, they are looking for work imo. I always go for a reputable garage, one where they have a steady workflow and not looking for work. That way you'll get a fair MOT and probably just a verbal advisary. There's a good chance they'll find something else just to be picky, if I were you I'd tell them I had a second opinion and was told to report this to VOSA...........................it does work.
