My 19 year old is only paying £500 on her 100 with her mum as a named driver with Diamond.

Dont forget the "named driver", bit.

Knocks it down quite a lot.

A major factor is the history on car models, 1.2sxi is no doubt very popular with young lads and therefore no doubt crashed a lot which is bad news, he would be much better off getting something very unusual and unfortunately not so popular, insurance companies will know which cars are a liability. I pay 200 quid fully comp on zs 180, I'm 28 with 5 yrs nc. So location can play a major part as well but not much you can do about that.

Tried direct line still coming in over 3 grand . Might be wise to sell the corsa and look for something not so popular like b8sy says. Maybe a rover 25 would be a good idea but then again that's a 1.4 engine so don't know if it would be . Pete that quote is with the named driver its over 4 grand on his own .

It maybe worth getting a few quotes with different cars, some cars seem to viewed as much bigger risks than others.

I did an insurance quote on am Aston db9 a few years ago and it was 1200 quid fully comp, they obviously don't get crashed and not easy to steal. Try a few different motors, something boring for the first year or two and then once insurance starts to drop go for something a bit more fun.

The car is relevant for sure. The guy I share an office with's daughter passed her test yesterday.

Her quote for a through go compare for a 2003 Mini valued at 3K is £1700 via "insurethebox". The highest was £26K ....!!!
