The ZS is a major improvement on the 45 in terms of handling, which I think is mostly down to the suspension.

A few bits:

Suspension and Steering

Low ride height
Sports springs and dampers
Front and rear anti-roll bars
Sports tuned power steering
Quick ratio steering rack

Brakes

ABS with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution)
Ventilated front disc brakes (on 120, 115 TD and 180 models) and solid rear
Front disc brakes and rear drum brakes (on 110 and TD models)
282mm front/260mm rear discs (ZS180)

Edit: Above info was nabbed from a well known MG site, btw

Why not get insurance quotes on the 120? You can pick them up pretty cheaply now.

Don't discount the 1.6 110bhp, I've had one for about a month now and I'm really impressed by the power it can generate.

I've just come from a TDi Focus and it's like chalk and cheese. In first the zs fair flys and most impressed by the power in 3rd which is miles better than the diesel engine plonked in the focus I had.

The handling is superb, I'd read on the forums about it prior to buying but it really corners like a dream. There's some back roads near me that give it a great workout and it's just great fun.

Forgot to say the brakes are crap though! Bloody drums on the back are useless so if you want to stop in a hurry may be worth looking at the 120!

I would say going down the 45 route is a good way to get the looks of the ZS (with the right mods) but getting the superb handling of the ZS would probably cost more than the insurance premium of a ZS120.

Not based on any fact, but I would have thought this is true... especially if you were to get all the work done at a garage.

im 20 and my 180 is £900. im sure you will find it fairly cheap if you look around. my 1998rover 216 was £400 more than the 180!
