When you go for a test drive in one and it doesnt want to pull, most likely be the MAF sensor gone. Easy to change ?75 odd if you get one like Dan.

I was just having a chat with a guy who had bought a ZS Derv, was disappointed in it until he changed the MAF, now it goes as it should.

heheh maybe - only need 30% throttle to get on the wrong side of the boys in blue.... but it is actually dropping my mway cruising rpm by around 200-250 that is making the 5mpg difference to what i usually get... can't wait to see how much i can get this to drop when i can use my full lead boot again

tho annoying an audi driver coming home last night as i pulled onto the M4 probably wont have helped this tankful

It is the one massive thing i love about the L-series, unless you drive like it was stolen even in a high level of tune we still get good mpg....

Just been doing a comparison of sorts.

Anyway -

10,000 at 47mpg for a diesel at ?1.41 = Fuel cost of ?1363.47 ish.

(Approx 212.7 gallons which is 967 litres = 1363.47)

10,000 at 27mpg in a 180 at ?1.36 a litre = Fuel cost of ?2290.24 ish

(Approx 370.5 gallons which is 1684 litres = 2290.24)

Insurance - for me anyway -
Diesel = ?350
180 = ?450

Tax -
Diesel = ?130
180 = ?245

So a years driving a Diesel is roughly - ?926.77 cheaper on fuel and ?215 cheaper on tax and insurance

Total - ?1141.77 .........

Clearly as things go up - the diesel becomes even cheaper - but as mileage goes down so will the savings.

yeah - thankfully i do mostly business miles now so i tend to get myself an even better deal out of not doing so many miles....

thinking of getting the GF a new car off a mate (an 09 plate) that is petrol but still does 40mpg... it is however 2 insurance groups higher than a standard derv ZS!

Not sounding rude, but doesnt the ZS tank hold 12g? So to get 50mpg you would need to do around 600 to a tank?
Best I ever got from the 120 was 550 miles driving at no more than 60 though! Still, 45 mpg from a 1.8 saloon isn't bad!
