mk2 dash in a mk1

I can get a pritine mk2 dash for 40 quid. I was thinking about wacking it in my MK1, keeping the mk1 centre console. Will the mk1 + mk2 dash's be interchangable, or do they screw in at different places? The mk1 has bolts under the centre heater area, and one on either end of the dash. Have to remove 12v leads too. Just wondering if this has been tried before. If not, I might just buy it anyway and guinea pig my car. I much prefer the mk2 dash!
