My 160 VVC Metro Project

Not posted this here and thought a few may be interested to see my Metro GTI project.

I bough the car about 2 years ago with the conversion already done as it was cheaper and easier than getting all the components, engine, shell etc and it was hard to finding a black or white half decent GTI. after 8 months or so of driving the car it went for an MOT, i knew there was work required to keep her structurally sound but didn't expect to have to do a full strip down.

Heres the car after she was tidied up and I got her looking fairly acceptable, with the addition of a Z+F remap to accompany the straight through exhaust, janspeed manis and induction. Still on the 65 box made it mental up to about 70 mph :

Current Mods:
160vvc engine
Mgf bottom arms
K&N airfilter
Avital alarm
Sportex cat back including the decat
Janspeed manifold
FSE power-boost valve
Lowered and individualized
Uprated rear ARB droplinks
Yellow band steering rack
AX center console

And hers she is now, should be ready for the summer if all goes to plan. There will be lost of upgrades which will get updated as the thread progresses. After the dodgy work on it in the past no expense is being spared on making this a an very quick and safe motor.

looking good, love seeing these type of strip down and rebuild projects.

not a metro fan but I wouldn't mind having a shot, good old street sleeper affect.

Thumbs up

That's lookin superb already, if ur gonna do it do it properly!!
Just my sought of thinking :-))

Been a while since I went in a metro, not my cuppa tea but neither were mini's bt I can still appreciate good work and the effort that's needed to achieve.

Still wish I had access to a mates 6r4 though, only had the pleasure of driving it once but ohhhh mama.

Would love a car like this.

Like many rebuild type projects though - I hope you plan to keep it as I doubt you'd get anywhere near your money back for all the parts, time and effort ...

Keep us posted ....

Cheers guys. Going to be a real sleeper when done, bog standard looking but underneath will be a completely different story. If I said money wasn't an issue I'd be lying but I never intent to sell it and I'm doing it with a mate whos very skilled with this type of work so its keeping costs down with high quality work but unfortunately time is short.

Just dont see metros or maestros around down here, suppose the salty atmosphere doesnt help.

Were great little cars and this one will certainly surprise a few!!!!!

Great build thread.

Looks good.
