Minor update.

Well I picked up some springs from Brett (idge2003) on Wed night and got around to having a look at getting them fitted after work this afternoon.
Only travelled a few miles but already sitting much nicer. I apologise about the state of the car but didnt get a chance to clean it before doing this plus my mates unit is down a muddy horrible unmade road so didnt think it worth it before.
Will be some clean (er) pics to follow once shined up this evening.

Before commencing :

When finished and back home :

Think once its cleaned up will look much nicer and then to sort those fat tyres on the rear for the proper size so it will look even.

What do you think.?

Cheers Pete. I just couldn't get them to a spec where my other half liked the drive of the car. I trimmed, chamfered and smoothed and it was a no go. As it turned out I had a 1.8 auto bar & bush on there anyway so wasn't great but replaced with a genuine new setup and feels much better. Not getting complaints either so will leave it as is.
My mate was after bushes for his race car so I never lost out on them either other than the hour or so of the playing around trying to sort.
Not too fussed but she unfortunately drives it more than me and even I thought it was a bit annoying for constant use.

No doubt it'll drop a few mm more when settled, looks good on mk2 alloys.

Looks good and glad you had no problems with anything seized etc!

I really am going to have to get my coilovers on as I miss how my old car looked when lowered compared to the 4x4 esque ride height!

Thanks Dan, no its not too low but the more I look at it, it is quite a noticeable drop which is a nice change. Yeah motobuild springs. To be honest they don't really feel much different to the standard springs, maybe everso slightly stiffer.

Well it may drop a couple more like you say once the cars settled itself, I think it now sets the wheels off more than when standard height.

Cheers Brett, I'm glad it's done but it was far from straight forward. Bolts had seized on most bits at the rear and bushes were spinning and not coming undone so it wasn't a pleasant experience when with limited supplies but Darren my mate who was helping is very good with awkward parts lol. Plus I think as its not his car he wasn't so worried about using more force where I was a bit reserved.
First impressions though are great, I can see why people do get the coilovers when you can go as low & lower and then set it up fully. I would probably only go 5 - 10 mm lower if I did as it'd start to eat the tyres.

Cheers for the bit though mate, wouldn't be sounding or looking like it does now without them

That's not a problem at all and I should really be thanking you!

Yeah coilovers will be better for getting that perfect stance especially with my new wheels being 8.5j gonna be needing all the help I can get to stop it rubbing!

It'll look sweet once its all done though mate, low and wide always works well when done nicely.
Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together when you get the bits on the car.
