Hi all,

It's been a while but this weekend I should be able to get down to doing some more work on the zed! Work on the new house had taken priority over the last couple of months but I'm ready to get my hands dirty again!

Plan for this weekend is to replace rear hubs, discs and pads. The discs have seen better days and the bearings are LOUD at motorway speeds so I thought I'd replace the lot and clean up the caliper whilst I'm at it. I'll take some pictures for those that are interested in the brake setup. Any tips/things to watch out for?

Also what type of grease is best for packing the bearings with?

cheers

Tom

The bearings come pre greased as part of the hub assembly, so no greasing required.

So got around to changing the hubs, discs and pads; went pretty smoothly although the handbrake mechanism needed some tlc to prevent binding. I went for some mintex discs and pads from ebay so I'll see how they fare. No new shims with the pads so had to clean up the old ones and re-use not ideal but the car needed to be back on the road for Monday's commute!

The calipers (front and rear) appear to be brembo but they look the same as the Lucas OE ones to me. Anyone know if they were an option?

New hubs made a huge difference at motorway speeds and fitting them myself allowed me to buy a new torque wrench

Picture of old near side looking pretty ropy! Forgot to take a picture of the new bits fitted...
