What you need to do m8 is get a VVC manifold fitted and also a metal T-Piece fitted to the top hose to replace plastic one and that helps the 2 worst weak spots on the 1.8t

Collected the ZT today and drove 170 mile home.

These are very nice cars and have plenty of power. The engine is much better than I expected.

I do have one problem though, the turbo sometimes cuts out, and at one point I drove about 30 mile without any boost. I think there's possibly an issue with either some pipe work or the waste gate.

So some small niggles to sort out and few things to fix, but it handled most of the journey home perfectly fine, a very comfortable car.

Check all the boost pipes, on the ZS they are prone to split or have holes in them for some reason. Check all the clips, the oil gets under the pipes/clips and they can pop off.

Glad it went OK'ish, Hope its an easy fix.

And the air filter, might be wet or full of crud.

Sounds like the common sticky waste gate problem... however as pete said, check all hoses etc for damage. Try the cheap option before you buy a new turbo

Car looks nice, have you seen the ZT body kit that MG Lifestyle (UK) ltd are doing for them

I've ordered some new pipes off eBay.

I think its just a sticky waste gate or waste gate solenoid. The turbo was brand new not so long ago and there's a receipt for it, so fingers crossed its fine.

That's a nice looking ZT looks good in black. That body kit would look good on it.
