car to be sold to pay for theft
Sadly i have just discovered that when i recently handed over 1640 to pay for the rental of a holiday villa, through www.homeaway.co.uk, wasn't actually going to the owner of the villa, but to an east european gang who have hacked various parts of the website and are directing enquiry e-mails etc to them rather than the owners. consequently i have lost my money, and 7 hours yesterday with Lloyds bank and the Fraud squad have highlighted that i cannot get it back from the bank or the website owners. so i have to raise funds to cover this loss, so will be selling my 180.
anyone who ever saw the car when Clive owned it, will know its a nice one. and i am looking for 1500 if possible.
anyone after a nice 180 mk2 saloon?
my mobile is 07760-505450 if you need to take a look at her and you are near birmingham.

That my friend is a feckin nightmare. Gutted for you.
I take it you didn't use a credit card then to pay for it ?
You just beat me to that car first time around when Clive was selling it but I'm not in the market any more. Sad scenario to be selling, but I wish you well with the sale.

Sorry to hear that you are not able to get it back - it is one reason I try to use CC for expensive purchases as they are slightly easier to claw back money under certain circumstances
Good luck with the sale, even if it is for really shitty reasons

thanks Guys, You live and learn as they say. I am extremely gutted to have to sell my car. I would rather sell a car out of chosing to part with it rather than being forced to. I haven't finished enjoying it yet.
Last time i do a bank transfer for anything. The Cop from the fraud unit told me they are everywhere, holiday sites, autotrader, gum tree, ebay. vermin

Sorry to hear, thanks for the warning.
Has the car still got the LPG conversion.
Remember the car well, seems a low price, best of luck with the sale.
Just shows how careful you have to be now a days.

That's a crappy situation to find yourself in.
Best of luck with the sale, it's a very nice example.

Hi PeteZS
sadly not or i would keep it and sell my diesel i use each day.
Both My older ZS and Clive's older SZ were the 2 that had LPG, this one's unmolested.

Strange... if the website you used is a legitimate website that has been hacked then they are liable and by law should fix their website and refund you the money.
Funny enough my day to day job means I am a network and security specialist for the firm I work for and as part of that I am a "Certified Hacker" so I would like to think I know the law... Unfortunately the fraud squad don't know the law in these scenarios as much as they should.
As for the 180... I would love it but I don't have that sort of cash at the moment
