So here it is:

It's minging inside, very very dirty, as is the engine bay. It drives well though and looks as if it's the inlet manifold rather than the head gasket. Back bumper's cracked, a few parking dings, keep fit windows, knackered badges but like the man said 'Whaddya want for nothin'?'

Definitely - should give me a few words to write for MG Enthusiast.

Just shows the ZS is firmly in banger car territory now, I reckon their numbers will start to drop off now - it's now that enthusiasts who cherish their cars should hold onto them.

Into the PC workshop with it, soon have all the niggly bits sorted.

Well it's home

Given the little love this car seems to have had it's cleaned up really well. A few dings but that's to be expected of a car this old, I guess.

The inlet manifold gasket had more holes in it than a colander so that's been replaced as have the camshaft seals - it was passing so much oil it was untrue - the engine bay was filthy.

It did the 160 mile journey home without missing a beat, no oil or water loss so it's a tentative fingers crossed.

I'll get some better pictures soon (I smashed the filter for my SLR) and I'll go into more detail in MG Enthusiast.

One thing I do need to sort is the fuel filler flap - it sits proud of the body and looks bloomin' annoying - anyone know how to sort that?

iirc you can adjust the fuel flap on the hinge.

Just do a bit at a time, easy to over do it.

If it jams you car open it with a thin screwdriver in the gap.

Without wanting to sound thick is it just a question of loosening off the two 8mm bolts and moving the flap in a little?
