Saloon boot struts

My boot "pops" open but then settles down too low to get anything in. Replacement struts or a fix wanted please.

Cheers

I have seen some have fitted gas struts. What about repositioning the boot spring?

I had exactly the same thing, the boot pops open then settles down to about half open - i had the springy bars 'reset' by Apple MG in Meopham now it's fine...

Ditto... I haven't looked into it yet, but when I do I will post up my findings!

When released mine pops open an inch or so, but stays up when lifted. That's how I like it as I need to lift the wiper arm first

Smile

I need to sort out my boot, mine is held on with a temporary spring, it looks like one from one of those fold out sunbeds!! It was like it when I bought the car, has anyone ideas how to stop the boot springing up all of a sudden? It nearly knocks you out! Lol

I have heard this is a common problem with the saloon boot?

All sorted now. Found a thread on .org with part numbers for a part upgrade for cars with the extreme spoiler. They arrived mid-week and fitted them tonight. It now pops open and then when lifted, stays up ! I've had a few bumps on the head and scraped arms from holding it open whilst trying to load stuff. Not any more. :
