future classic's??

was thinking last night whilst searching ebay, gumtree and pistonheads and after scouring scrap yards that the ZS could well become a future classic I found 4 in the local breakers and most advertised go for peanuts or advertised as spares or repairs which in my eyes says it wont be too many years from now that they start to become scarce especially the MK2's as they weren't produced for as long as the mk1's

If the BRM can't make it to classic status with its quircky nature and very limited run then I think the ZS will be hard pressed to

Not too convinced myself. For an idea just look at the MG montegos and meastros, they dont exactly attract mega bucks. I spose in 20 years they will be classics because they are old but not because it was a break through in automotive history. Dont get me wrong, I love my ZS and for the money there is nothing I would rather have but you just have to be realistic, they arent going to be the next e type jag. To most people its like saying will any other mass produced family hatchback / saloon become a classic.
Im sure if you put an immaculate one away with 5,000 miles on the clock and dry stored it for the next 15 / 20 years then someone would pay a few grand for it though.

oh no i know they wont reach the same desirability of a jag but could easily argue the point of the family hatch theory, asta GTE's, sierra's, Escort RST's etc
just had a quick scan for MG montego's and maestro's on ebay and there seems to none available yet the MG metro's seem to be steadily increasing in value

I think they could make classic status but a long way off yet. Theres going to be a few years of them going through the multi-coloured door syndrome, problem is that the smallest shunt gets them written off and when a car reaches a value of a couple of hundred quid who is going to pay out the same in an ecu repair or whatever.

The time to buy them is when they are cheap and store them carefully so that in a few years the value may have gone up but don't expect a fast return on the investment!! I have a 1972 Hillman Avenger GT which I know is one of only 7 still in existence but even with that rarity value it's still not worth much actual money It's certainly worth far more to me than it's cash value!! As is my 180

The only maestro on eBay is a 1991 1.3 with 72K - only £1490!

3 years ago we paid £300 for a metro for my son, this year we paid £900 for a similar one for my daughter!
