Project - MK2 ZS 115 - 180 Kitted!

Finally decided to get shut of the ZR and get something a bit more... Better!

2005 MK2 MG ZS Diesel 115 with the full 180 body kit along with 11 spokes!

The colour is Firefrost Red and its pretty awesome to be fair!

Its not perfect but for what I paid its bargain!

Full MOT and the seller put new tax on it the same day I collected it, ended up getting it for £900, spot on!

Its not in bad nick, its done 163K but it drives like its done 63K, it really does.. Its got a few bits of bodywork that need sorting but il get round to it..

Iv got big plans for this beast... Anyway.. Here it is!

(Sorry about the bad pictures it was getting dark and my blackberry is gash for taking decent photo's!)

Gave the engine bay a clean..

Now the bad bits

Bit of bad paint on the rear bumper.. Needs a respray.. Also a cracked rear light..

Stone chips each side on the wide arches at the rear..

Scuff on the front bumper..

Few stone chips on the grill..

But apart from that, its not too bad really!

The headlights are a bit misty but thats due to condensation and needing a good polish up.. Passenger is the worst due to not having a cap on the back of the headlight

The beast in the garage..

Recent work its had..

New glow plugs x4
Both timing belts and tensioners 2K ago
Full service with MOT
New sump gasket
New backbox
New antifreeze

and thats it as far as I know, it only came with the service hisotry in the handbook and a few mot's, no receipts or anything like that..

But I had a good look over it and its obviously had a new turbo and fuel pump at some point as the turbo has no play at all, its like new and also the fuel pump is really clean, I can still see all the numbers marked on it etc which says to me that it hasnt been on very long..

Did have a couple of problems with the car on the way home, I pulled out to pass the old man in his slow 600 SDi and I couldnt get past The ZS was flat and restricted at 4K RPM.. So I pulled over and took the airbox top and filter out, put on my new MAF and open cone from my ZR, it felt a bit better but still restricted to 4K so I pulled over again at the next lay-by and took the engine cover off to find the plug to number 1 injector unplugged and the wire wrapped round the injector? Plugged it in and it felt like a new car, with the new maf and the injector plugged back in, its now flying..
Shame about the crappy 115 map though! Its so annoying it pulls hard till 2800 rpm, then lets off till 3500 rpm then it starts to pull again, I hate it!

So far iv done;
Changed all wipers for aero flats
Adjusted throttle cable as it was slack as hell
Unplugged the EGR
Changed MAF and air filter
Fixed the back bumper on properly, was literally hanging off, the bottom fixings weren't even there!
Re-sealed all leaky boost hoses
Replaced all the leak off pipes
Adjusted up the handbrake
Changed aerial for short stubby bee sting type

and just a general clean up really..

Iv ordered new injector sealing washers, new drivebelt, inlet/exh gasket, manifold gasket, new expansion cap (im sure its leaking) and some 100w H7's - Naughty naughty

So yeah.. Thats the ZS, what do ya all think? Bargain?

Heres the list of future plans for the beast!

Things il be doing shortly;

Fit SDI's when new washers turn up..

Fit boost gauge (in drivers vent for now) and up the boost to 19 PSI

Change the cat for my gutted one

Fit dark ice turbo outlet pipe

Clean out intercooler, inlet manifolds and all intercooler hoses

Blank off EGR valve

Vent the breather to atmosphere

Change the damaged rear light

Remove the ZS badge off the boot (I think it looks out of place)

Fit BRM heater knobs

Fit ZR gear stick, dark ice short shift and BRM gear knob

Fit steering UJ to the end of the ZS gear linkage

Fit MG TF mirror with xenon bulbs

Changing interior bulbs to xenon bulbs

Fit xsara mist washer jets

Fitting wind deflectors

On the to do list;

Get the air-con re-gassed!

Fitting 620 Ti front brake set up

Fitting ZR160 rear brakes

Dry out and polish up headlights

Remove front bumper to change the girly horn, remove fog blanks and fit fog lights from my ZR.. May also spray the front mesh silver as its gone rusty

Get a fresh set of stick on number plates (hate seeing the screws through them)

Spray the bottom beam on the front bumper black with plasti-dip

Fit my cupra R front splitter

Sell my remapped ECU and get the ZS mapped and rolling roaded

Future plans;

New windscreen with top tint (screen is scratched from an old wiper)

De-orange speedo and convert all switches to blue

Full black leathers (hopefully heated)

Maybe coilovers? Failing that motobuild lowering springs

Powder coat the 11 spokes Vauxhall Artic White

Tinted windows all round (limo tint rears, smoked tint fronts)

Buy saloon extreme spoiler, remove front and rear bumpers along with the rear wide arches and get them all freshly sprayed

Fit saloon extreme spoiler

Aftermarket backbox of some sort? Id like a wingy backbox really..

Braided brake lines all round and Dot 5.1 brake fluid

MG TF steering wheel

Distant plans (il get there eventually!)

Remove the engine out of my ZR, rebuilt it with new rings, shells, gaskets etc.. new clutch, replacement gearbox, fresh fuel pump, get it all built up and ready to drop straight into the ZS one weekend..

Get a bigger waste gated turbo to put on once new engine is in...

Get a front mount intercooler

Uprated clutch, steel caged gearbox and a Type B LSD..

and thats about it really, after that I think it will be spot on!

Will take me a year or so to get all that done but once its done it will be awesome!

Thanks for looking!

Bargain, yes for sure.

The rear wheel arch sections are a pain for stone chips, I've thought about using some of that clear film to protect them a bit.

Your front bumper has had paint, the intake bits around the fog lights should be Black.

A bit of tlc is all it needs imo.

great buy, decat, s/s exhaust from cat back, boost up a bit, BMC panel filter, 135 bhp, 212 ft/lbs torque. Then SDi's and a Reidy remap 159 bhp 236 ft/lbs torque.

Found a Landrover place for the injector seals.

My ZR made 155 BHP and 262 lb ft with all the usual mods and a Reidy remap, it would of been 159-160 BHP but it had a slight fault with the pump ECU..

It was mapped on Matts dyno in Yeovil.. Was planning on sticking all the ZR mods onto the ZS but the ECU wont work

Don't blank off the EGR valve - on a Mk2 you'll get an engine management light and never pass an MOT. A Digimafam will overcome the flat spot for half the price of a remap.

Iv already unplugged the egr mate and it didn't bring up a code and iv had the maf unplugged and that didn't bring up a code either, being a mk2 I thought that was weird.. I then plugged in my obd2 code reader and it wouldn't read it? So I think maybe mines not completely obd2 compliant?

Where can I get a digimafam from I was just gunna buy a normal mafam for now as I plan to remap it after winter but if a digimafam smooths out the 115 crappy map and works as a mafam also that seems good! I might not even bother with a remap..

By the way, I never get an mot failed because of the engine management light??
