The pin between the master and pedal wares. 1/2mm of ware can give loads of travell before the clutch bites.

If you press the pedal you can see how much travell you loose before the master clevis starts to move. the clevis also wares oval increasing the problem.

I find drilling the the pedal and fork out to 3/8" and replacing the clevis pin with a 3/8" version removes the play and gives a larger ware surface for a more permanent repair!!
