Fair play, good on you for sticking at it. Just makes it all that much more rewarding when it is finally right.

Nowhere near the end of the world. When I had my ZS on the RR after fitting the ITB's the head gasket went. Find it, went back and is better than ever, just stick with it and you'll be rewarded in the end.

I'd certainly complain to whoever timed the cams first though!

SOOOO Frustrating John, kinda one of the reasons i try and do everything myself.

Only 3-4 guys i would ever trust to do anything on my cars / bikes for the exact issues you have had :-(

Nice gauge, mine was an older dial style but i made the mistake of lending it out and well never saw it again. Another lesson learnt

looking good thou

Was enjoyable I must say just bit time consuming trying to get the adjusting bolts as close to centre as I could. Shame it seems to be the problem those as it is the just about only job that I didn't do

The reasons you posted for the issues found is why I find it hard to trust someone hence why I do all my own rebuilds and setting up, there's only one person to blame if it is incorrect. Being a time-served toolmaker by trade makes it easier as tend to have the tools, even after all these years away from a workshop! I know the feeling when things go against you and you feel like shoite, always pays to walk away, take a break and revisit when the minds refreshed. Pleased you go it it sorted and no doubt feel pretty damn good with yourself too!

glad you got it sorted, all above me I'm afraid.

I can however appreciate the skill and knowledge to set it up.

Hope you get the results you want on the RR
