Petrol Light and Gauge

does the zs mrk2 have an estimating needle it may sound stupid but it would appear that way! When i plant the foot or drive aggressively the needle will drop as expected however if I than change driving to more subdued 60mph gentle acceleration the needle will rise again?

Also how many miles do you roughly get when the petrol light come son?

Cheers guys

Depends how you drive!
I think it's about 5 litres/1 gallon.

it has a predictive needle. it predicts how much fuel you will be using if you continue to boot it. 4.4 litres to a gallon i think its roughtly 12 litres from when the first flicker of lights appears. so for me around 70 miles. only once have i pushed it this far.

With the light full on I would not go past 30 miles but that will depend upon how fast you might be going! The needle itself is a bit of a joke and only a guide.

Personally I think it is a great feature.

I'm having about 290-300 miles to the tank lately (up from about 250-260) and the light still hasn't come on...

Just to revisit this thread, the fuel gauge has been driving me crackers!

I've been trying to get the petrol light to stay on all the time but keep bottling it as it seems to 'flicker' for ages. It came on yesterday for the first time after a trip to the seaside then I've done about 40 miles today with it randomly popping on and off.

How long does it stay on flicker mode before staying on all the time.... if ever!

Trying to work out the mpg is a bit of a challenge when the gauge is such a .... challenge.

Although reckon even with some hard driving at the weekend still got about 37 mpg out of the 1.6 zed which is quite impressive. Although a couple of weeks ago think it was over 40 which is pretty good despite my erratic driving style (quote the police when I got pulled driving a old mini years ago!).

Are you sure its not just because the needle takes ages to move? ( as in when the tank is empty, you fill it up to the max, but still takes 20-30 seconds to settle) + is the sender not nearer the front of the tank, so when ur booting it the fuel moves the the back?

No matter what way you drive, your eventually going to use fuel lol ( unless you drive with ur engine off ) isnt rocket science to predict the car is going to use fuel lol?

Anybody with me on this?

ive got a 120 and and if you pull away fast the fuel rocks about it takes a while for the light to stay on all the time done it a few times but beware it will take about 57-60 litres to fill it back up again
