Didnt you have a ZS before you got the ZR?

Looks a tidy car for sure, with fuel prices the way they are going and the tax on 05+ 180's someone might fancy a change.

Ceri you do realise the price of tax for the 180 changes depending on the year. Some are hit with the £400+ tax bracket

No, Ive owned two Zrs, both being a facelift. Only cars ive owned and dont want to move from MG..how sad am I haha! I actually wanted the subaru gx sport because Ive always loved scoobies, but for the same tax price and fuel consumption ive decided to get a ZS 180..better performance for the price..also the ZS are very cheap to buy! Insurance is wee bit more but hey..its a V6 engine!!

Im sure the tax is band K? £270 per year (same as the Subaru GX)

Yes, before 06MY... after 06MY its well over £400 a year (all because of 2g of CO2)

It's a good point - once you've had a ZS you're unlikely to want to go back.
HOWEVER, this particular ZR has a lot going for it, being a late model TD in a lovely colour.

If you were struggling with the running costs of a 180 but wanted to stay with the MG marque then it might be a very sensible move.
The TD engines make a ZR an altogether better car (than the standard ZR at least). And having 130kg less to lug about they do pick up speed a bit quicker than a similar engined one, and are slightly more economical.
This one also seems to be well equipped too – not so many ZR owners originally took the aircon option.

Ultimately I think you may be forced to sell and then buy rather than have the convenience of simply swapping, but very best of luck with it, and here’s hoping you’re back soon with just as nice a ZS!
