Just wondering what a decent price I should be paying for a full or interim service?

...but if he has a 3rd party warranty it'll be void if he doesn't get the service done by a VAT registered garage (that's the case with mine anyway).

How many people have actually used their warranty and not had any issues getting the work done? It is worthless unless it is for more than 12 months and you do alot of miles.

I would do the work myself and ****** the warranty! I don't trust garages full stop, had some bad experiences when I was young.

I have no warranty anyways as I bought the car cash from a private seller but would be sceptical about doing a full service myself, and would it be much cheaper anyway?
Plus I cant do alignment checks etc...

Servicing costs you the bought items only, unless you have limited tools. Garages charge you the earth for labour and get the consumables at trade prices. I always do my own work, anything special will require resourcing to suit.

If you are just doing the oil & filter it'll cost no more than about £30 i'd say, and any 'fool' can do it - it's simple.

so what are the 'most important' things that need doing that I can do myself?

Oil change, Oil filter, Air filter, maybe the pollen filter. All simpler than your average current cabinet.
Best thing is to go down the check sheet from aprevious service done by an mg rover garage. Then ask yourself can I do it?
Aren't those sheets viewable in the members area. Handy if you havent got any to hand
