What to look out for on a 180?
Righto, as you may have seen in the other thread i am off to look at a 180 tomorrow, apart from a rattling plenum what are the other problems i should be looking and listening for??

anything thats went wrong with mine basically
The usual VIS actuator/Plenum issues,
leaking brake Master or slave cylinder,
engine mount,
Check the A/C is working
anyone else care to add?

depends how old it is, if its close to 90,000miles, cambelts need to be changed and is a big job so price should reflect that, check power stearing isnt leakin

only done 33k iirc, so cambelts ok for a while yet
Sammy you can confirm i wont be hearing things, though as my hearing is a tad fucked that is unlikely.....so you will mostly be the ears lol

leaking shocks - but i think someone told me this was just on the earlier models.

Loose exterior door handles, check them all.
If orig type of exhaust, check for rust at back joint.
Good look at tyre depth, remember these things sit low and so tyres hidden.
Leaking washer jet elbows (easy fix).
Ensure oil is nice and clean, if not may indicate poor maint of car.

its a mk2 with 30000 miles, take it you would see the fluid leaking from the container?
