I went down similar line as James - a universal CC kit, integrated with the OE controls.

I used this kit. Works great in the ZS180 and TF. The steering controls need just a single resistor to work with the kit. The telltale light on the cluster works and I'm only missing a OEM on/off switch which is substituted by a cheap push button switch for now.

That kit is cheaper than the one I used on the F.

Have you wired the dash light?

On the ZS, yes. You can just about make out the light in the pic. I transplanted a wire with pin from a loom from a scrapped car to operate the dash light.
