Headlight bulb

I am getting a bit frustrated. The last H7 bulbs I had in melted the drivers side spade connector & holder (high temp?) so I changed to a recommended Phillips Xenon bulbs (55w)
Now the bloody passenger side one stopped working on the way to wales a couple of days ago and low and behold it had melted the connector on that side.
What is going on? What is the standard bulb that you should have in there? Is it just a H7 55w (Non Xenon)
I am worried in case this keeps happening. I have hard wired the bulb back in for now til I get home but if I leave those bulbs in no doubt that they will melt again.
