On my quest to find a nice ZS i test drove 2 hatchbacks, a 120 and a 180.

The 180 was very nice, only 38k on the clock. Felt very tight and solid. The engine was very smooth but it seems the power comes in very late. I would put my foot down in second and theres nothing...nothing...nothing until about 4000 revs and then its takes off.

The 120 was very nice, was in blue too Although it also had 30k ish miles on it, the head gasket job had already been done but the speedo had apparently just stopped working yesterday. Hmm ok yea that could explain the mileage. It didnt seem as tight, there were a few knocks and rattles. Although the engine seemed very stong, had loads more useable power on the the back roads unlike the 180 which just didnt have the power in the low revs at all.

Think im going for the 180 though. Was a very well looked after car. Should have it by the weekend with any luck.

Sounds like a faulty VIS power motor there should be a kick just before 3k revs and then the balance motor takes over at 4k revs which is what you felt.

Try another with work vis and you will see the difference

The 120 speedo would be the fuse for the ABS, I disconnected mine in the snow and the speedo stopped! Although that would bring on the ABS light, unless like mine there was tape over it! lol

Not cheap to replace but there is a fix....
http://forums.xpowerforums.com/showt...&highlight=vis
(sure there was a thread on here but according to search theres nothing on the site with VIS mentioned lol)

As long as there wasnt a rattling coming from the plenum, as they are expensive ?300-500 to replace. Believe there is a fix for that on the way but its working progress at the moment.

The engine sounded very very smooth and quiet. There was a quiet whir or whineing sound, but i assume thats normal having never heard a KV6 before. I gave it a few revs which in neutral and everything seemed ok.
