Got to disagree there. Just because it has the same torque figure does not make it as fast. 0-60 is far slower, 0-100 is even more slower and the all important in gear times are slower too. Plus by the time the diesel has reached it's torque figure, it's nearly out of revs. The 180 has several thousand more RPM's to play with. Take them on a race track together and then see just how much faster the 180 is ! I'll give you the fuel quote though, you're right on that !!

So are diesels then. No ones impressed by a diesel. It says "i'm a stingy basterd and i can't afford to run a proper car so i will pretend i've got a good one by getting one that looks like the supperior range topper" Nowt big and clever about driving a stinky tractor with a bodykit

Ummm not sure where you got the idea the in gear times of the ZS180 are better. I know for a fact that the in gear time for the 180 is half a second SLOWER 30-70 and 50-80 is even more of an advantage for the diesel. As for round a track i am sure the T series turbo cars are faster round a track that a 180 and most of them couldnt shake me off round Combe (which is a very fast track) and as for the running out of revs mine pulls strongly from 1600 rpm all the way to 4500 rpm and anyway thats what gears are for.
