If your wanting to flush the engine a tried and tested method is pour a 1/4 cup of diesel fuel and run for 5/10 mins only, while the engine is at operating temp, then drain and fit and fill oil and oil filter, cheap flush!

fastmike is on a distinguished road
Years ago to cure noisey hydraulic tappets on Rover V8s we used to drain the oil and refill with Redex upper cylinder lube ... then ran the engine all day outside , drained that out and refilled with oil with a new filter ...... seemed to work too ...... on the Audi TT 1.8 turbos the yanks use AUTO-RX...... its available off E bay ( around ?18 ish) and its left in for 1500 miles.... I bought a bottle to stick in my Audi to see if its any good..... one thing they recommend tho ... drain the oil and refill with a nornal mineral oil before adding this stuff

Not heard of that one before, not very keen with putting anything but oil in the engine, might try the derv oil to clean it out and see what happens then.
