On a long run I easily hit 50 mpg, and get mid to late 40's going around the doors (no mods done to the car)
I have had mine for just over 2 years and had no bother with it.
Personally I think the mk2 saloon looks are better than the mk1, but that just my thoughts.
When I was looking for mine the MK2 TD's were like hens teeth though!!! but if its what you really want I would hold out as long as you can and one will turn up.

hey lou, basically exact same engine as the zr diesel so pretty much similar mpg performance ect, the 110 and 120 petrols will get about 40-45mpg on a motorway run sitting at about the limit, never worked out what it is day to day driving though.

just need to factor in a: initial cost of a diesel over a petrol, b: cost of diesel compared with petrol: c: obvios getting a petrol make sure stick ?400 by incase of hgf

common problems, well fairly reliable cars both petrol and diesel, think the MAF can play up on diesel, aain hgf on petrol, door handles coming loose at the backing to the door, n other stuff nothing majorly different to any zr faults
basically if you love your zr then youll LOVE the zs, feels a bit better to drive n put together wee bit better

any questyons just ask away

Wow thanks for the warm welcome and excellent advice I'm going to start looking next week, they sound like excellent cars to drive. Always liked them but never driven one. Another question I thought of although its probably on here if i search but is the MK2 spoiler a straight swap?

Yep spoilers fit both MK's But saloon/hatch ones are not interchangeable unfortunately ZS's are brilliant drives, still miss my zr but canna get enough zs goodness tbh Welcome to the site, hopefully been able to help a touch

Check the boost pipes as they often pop off/split

Town.....35-45 depending on rightfoot and swooshing noise required to attract the ladies!

newcastle to manchester @ 75-80 solid 56mpg, i only test that twice a month these days... when un modded i've managed to achieve 65mpg!

Check....

Boost Pipes.....

Maf...... if unsure replace it with a peirburg!!!!

Downpipe, make sure the flex is good, as it ruins you turbo performance.

Oil pips, you may need to get under the cars drip tray to see....

rear calipers, look to see if the discs have discolored if they have the calipers are sticking.....

just a few things si would check :P
