some people would just swap the plate from another similar car say from another ty zs (I should point out that Im not some people )
I dont think booking an mot will work unless your driving to the mot station tbh.

after speaking with various people today (including my local garage) even at the purchase price he seems to think MOT'ing it would be an idea as its worth more anyway after ive done TLC work on it

If I were you - I'd book the MOT. You can then drive it, so long as it's insured, to the MOT centre. I'm fairly sure that after the test you could drive it home even if it failed in order for repairs to be carried out.
