Waterless car washing

At work we have a company that comes round and cleans your car in the car park... £7 will get a Exterior Clean and Shine... doesn't sound too bad... £50 will get a full valet inside and out..

But they claim to use no water at all in the cleaning process...

Their website is http://www.ecodrift.co.uk/

Can they really be as good as they claim? or are they going to destroy the paintwork of the car if I were to ask them to wash it? - have seen them cleaning a few brand spanking new BMW 5 Series cars as well as others... so they can't be *that* bad can they?

although i'm not doubting the process i'm not convinced especially if the car has grit and dust covering it. if they are providing this service they must have some sort of insurance so if you do have it done take a few pics of the car before you let them loose on it, that way if they do scratch it you can have them respray the car, failing this the best person to ask would be steve cleenz

Personally I wouldnt have it done a mine, would make me cringe seeing it done. All that grit being ground into the paint.

Must be the lastest craze as I got an email advertising a similar product today Pro 'Dry' Clean

Kinda ironic that they are saving the world by saving water yet click on gallery and there they are washing a porche which spits lumps of CO2 out the back bigger than the average house brick.
"eco" drift arent fooling me tbh. Would rather have swirl free paint and flush the toilet one less time per day.

It was this that got me. "The Eco Drift microfibre towels have the unique quality to absorb the liquefied dirt and to protect the car paint from scratches."

...Liquefied dirt?! Is that even possible?

Nothing can beat a full day of detailing, couple of ice cold beers and some tunes

Adamzs180 will become famous soon enough
These companies operate around our local supermarket and i've watched them at work. It's not a pretty site, watched one guy stand on the bumper to reach over the windscreen of a disco. Also i don't think they can handle really dirty cars as i turned up in my filthy van after a days work and they never approached me.

Taphouse is on a distinguished road
I set up a car wash in West Quay, Southampton, for a company doing the same thing.

Versus the drive thru car wash, you not going to do any harm. If your a diy detailer you are going to ruin your finish. Half the trouble is the people I had working for me who didn't understand about paint, and easily you can damage it. Hence I had to do all the high end motors myself.

As for Eco it is, uses about 1 litre of water to be fair, compared to car wash, etc it is very good on water, very big in Europe where you can't wash your car on the street.

As for health and safety the shopping centres love it to slips or spills, and you can wash anywhere as no chemical run into the drains.

Would I wash my car using the system? No!

Load of crap, I would never touch a car with out a pre soak of even just water first, no matter what they say it will damage paint, don't see how it's so Eco as you use about 6 cloths a car, and how can they make a decent profit from the cost of the wash and how long it takes to do the wash
