we are just used to so much more power these days.
My old XR3I was 105 bhp and no'one said they were particularly under powered back in the day.
The 1.4 zs will be very lightweight too which will help, my kv6 was 1200 kilos when standard on a weighbridge, so with the little 1.4 engine it will be 100 kilos lighter than that.

K4 is about 40-50kg more than the kv6

Are you sure - I've read in various places that the 120 handles better due to having a lighter engine
Handbook data:
1.4 1105 -1205 kg
1.8 1125 - 1215 kg
2.5 1235 - 1285 kg
all no occupants, 90% fuelled

Dry weights:
K4 1.4 is 100kg
KV6 2.5 154kg

Some the extra weight of the 180 will be the extras such as body kit.

My old Rover 214SEi, was only a 1.4. It went like stink, and was almost as much fun as the ZS.................The 1.4 was a very revvy little engine. Shame the brakes were crud!

Official Rover garage in Serbia offers brand new 1.4 engines, assuming they are original leftovers, would it be possible that there are other engines sitting somewhere? Prices here are ridiculous though, 2k euros including mounting...
1,4 ZS is still a good car, power isn't all that matters... Most mid class cars of today are not so powerful either, most of the modern 2.0 dervs, even though 160ish hp, rarely get to 60 in under 10 secs, so no faster than std ZS derv... They're mostly 1,6-1,9 tonnes fat arses, so they don't handle so well either. I guess today it's all about design and comfort, performance cars on the other hand are so expensive...

1.4 zs willl be pretty much identicle to the 105 zr, not fast but would do, zs isnt a heavy car, difference in weight between zr and zs isnt a lot
