Plenty of photos and everything in seperate labelled containers and you can never go wrong when it comes to reassembly

Just the one day in the garage this weekend as I've been busy of late.

Managed to get the wire brushing and Zinc priming on the underside finished off -

That's taken me far too long to complete but glad it's now finished.

Decided to strip the oil cooler down to see what condition it was in, here it is in all its oily glory -

And stripped down to its individual components -

Apart from a bit of crystallising coolant inside it's all in excellent condition surprisingly enough. Decided to give it a clean up in the parts washer, I left the nozzle running over the cooling element for a while to make sure there was no old oil left inside of it -

I blasted compressed air through all of the oil galleries to make sure they were all clear too.

All clean -

And back together -

Would have liked some new gaskets buts can't seem to find any. Will see how it goes and if it leaks in the future I'll have to sort something out.

I also picked these up last weekend -

I was pretty content with those but on Friday I happened across these -

Decided to move the grey ones on and go with the red instead. I was initially looking for a full set of ZS leathers as the Alcantara seats aren't the easiest to maintain, but they're few and far between. The Grey Alcantara's were bought for me to put away and use as and when I needed as I was going to go with some bucket seats and have no rear seats at all.

I think I may now ditch the idea of buckets as I think the red monogram Alcantara's will look excellent against the firefrost red paint.

The drivers seat has a small hole in the bolster and the seat base is a touch saggy so I stripped the seat down and took the covers up to my local upholsterers to be repaired -

Should have those back in a week or two.

Jay.

Be a showstopper when you're done mate. Good stuff.

Not sure about red in red personally. Think I'd have stuck with gunsmoke, but if they work for you that's all that matters.

Cheers Dan,

Will have to see how I feel when it comes time to fit them, won't know for sure until that point, but for the moment at least I think they'll look quite good.

Very interesting seeing the oil cooler stripped down, not seen that before. I personally like the red on red, think the seats will go nicely.
Are you replacing the hoses on the oil cooler? they went on the first track zs on here iirc and ended up with a seized engine.

I like the red ones, I have red Alcantara buckets in my maestro (although they have faded quite a bit), I also like the gun smoke, have it in the ZS and the F (although I'd like green in the F) and I like the blue we have in the ZR.
