200kph!!

finally got the magical speed out of my zed tonight. not bad for a mk1 120 with completely standard engine! book top speed is 132 mph and 200kph is about 125 so i was close to max. i didnt think that was too bad for a car that hasnt been improved in any way engine wise and is now nearly 5 years old.

i cant wait to see what i can get out of it when i have the induction kit and custom exhaust on but i would still love to open up a 180 on the autobahns. britain really needs to drop the motorway speed limit lol. not that i am a boy racer but its just nice to see what you can get every now and then. nothing beats the feeling of flying past a brand new bmw z4 convertable in something british!

i needed new ht leads for a while as one was duff and was coking up the spark plug on cylinder 2 causing it to misfire every now and then. didnt realise how much it dropped the acceleration and power output though until i put the new one on and got the foot to the floor. god i love the zs - just thought i would share that with you lol but i guess most of you agree thats why you here in the first place

Nearest we get to that kind of speed is on Track Days, great fun, specially when there are a number of Zeds going round.

Always nice to upset a BMW.

In my previoius MKI 180 I did 225 kmp/h when going to Bonn (once close to 230 but that doesn't count due to the angle of the road )

In my MKII 120 I did just under 200 kmp/h with 52mm throttle body and induction.

Haven't been to Germany with my current VVC enigine yet but a ZR160 does around 210, so I'm very curious

Unless you speed and break the law... (Wouldn't condone or admit if we were anywhere that speed of course)

Isnt the top speed of a 120, 121mph?

132 is nearer the top end of a 180!

On my "runs" on the German Autobahn the needle of my 120 pointed just under 200 (125 mph)

My previous 180 showed a little over 225 (140 mph).

Of course there's always the deviation in true speed and what the needle shows.
Seems the 180 is closer to factory specs than the 120, but maybe the 52mm tb and induction increases topspeed too.

here are the specs of the Zed range (I'm sure this site has the specs as well somewhere, just to lazy to look around )

I have managed just over 125 on a closed road but the front did start to bounce quite badly.

My bog standard ZS manages just over 240 kph according to the speedo (hadn't had the possibility to try faster) which should be the 225 real speed, satnav is confirming that.

What an advantage to live in Germany.
