Fuel cap/flap

Just a random question really..

Under the fuel flap it seems a bit unfinished on the mk2. Is there some kind of insert from the earlier 45/ZS that can fit in to finish this off?

Not sure if there were cut backs due to project drive or this is just the way its meant to be. Hope yous understand what part i mean

Yep know what you mean, looks like they run out of money and thought as no one will see it apart from the owner, why worry.

Lots of folded over metal and a few spot welds to hold it together.

I just give it a quick clean and close it up.

think with the arch liner less dirt gets in there, unfortunatly my filler pipe has rusted at the cap, so trying to get an arch liner and maybe a big grommet as well to go round the hole

Probably the reason why I'll never own a MK2 MGR anything, after owning a MK2 ZR and using a MK1 ZR a lot (borrowed) it was obvious the amount of cutbacks were made on the MK2's (all these little bits just took away from the more quality build quality of the car).

Shame really Bit like the vents on MK2's, feel like tracing paper!

However will agree MK2's look a lot nicer!
