I use them every year now. But then I'm in colder environments, go skiing up the alps etc. They make a big difference below 5-7ºC and I wouldn't go out without them in snow. Had great fun bombing around ireland on winters 2 years ago when we had all that snow when a lot of people were struggling on all-seasons/summers

I pay about £80 a corner for Avon ZZ3's and Toyo T1R are about the same price.

If you are serious about winter tyres get some 16" wheels and higher profile tyres which should make them cheaper.

When it snows I just walk..............Dont trust the other drivers to know how to drive..

there's always that... so I drive the Defender

My point that everyone seems to have missed earlier is that winter tyres perform much better in wet low temperature conditions - which is exactly what we get most of the time

these are winter tyres and you will see all the blocks also have groves in which will help move water away from the road and tyre face. Would imagine they are soft compound.

My suggestion is if you are going to have a set then buy a set of zs wheels too and stick them on there so you have the best of both worlds. ZS straghts can be picked up super cheap now (if you have a mk1)

Those are all 40's, the ZS runs 45's on the 17's.
