heh !! who needs.....
...an Oil Burner ?
Just returned from a little business excursion to Burnley from Rye in East Sussex. Filled the tank when I left, made the Journey one way (317 miles) and after a little bit of urban running about, started the run home.
This required a fuel stop (bloody motorway services !!!! £1.40 / L for 95 Unleaded ????? at least Richard Turpin wore a mask !!!! )
Took 42.39 litres (9.32 gallons) to fill to brim again. Checked Trip counter.... 391 miles ( 99% motorway work @ constant 70mph)
By my sums.... I make that 41.95 mpg.
K Series FTW

I assume thats a 120?
My old 180 used to do that sort of mileage on long journeys... the current one does almost 300 if I am lucky and its only motorway driving... - Will sort that out one day honest!

Don't Jinx it Peter!
Asda is 128.7 round here though... not too bad (if you shop at Tesco its 128.7 with 5p off when you spend £40 in store.... iirc)

Trouble is, I can remember getting 4 galls or 18.18 litres for a £1.00, I know wages have gone up etc, but we used to go off for weekend drives and fuel costs never came into it.
All seemed to go wrong when we went from gallons to litres, used to be near riots when the govt. put a 1p on a gallon. Now they put 2p or 3p on a litre and get away with it, few moans and apart for that lorry blockade not much opposition.
Now we are being priced off the roads, the govt. are starting to get worried because of the falling revenue from fuel tax and the VAT on the fuel.
So they are now talking about making us pay to use motorways!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I expect they are finding that more drivers are going for the zero or low road tax cars and cars like our V6's are no longer so popular, reflected a bit in the stupid low values.
Must pull my hands away from the keyboard before I really starttttttttttttttttt.

41.95 mpg would be poor for a derv on the motorway. I regularly get 600+ miles to a tank in the derv zs which is highly tunned. It works out at something like 58mpg. Our citroen ds3 will easily do 75-80 mpg on the motorway.

Main point being its an 1800 petrol and unless you have a Mk1 Trophy Yellow TD Saloon available for me to buy, I wont be changing soon either lol
Beats my 3.2 XR tho - motorway is 22 mpg if feathered and no revs over 3k.... time attack mode (whilst fun) returns 5-9 mpg.....
