Good work form you and Vard there, the joints will swap no problem, they're the same size and the same number of splines, how many teeth are the abs rings on the 420 cv joints, did the 420 have electric rear windows, they would swap into the zs if it doesn't already have them.

When I rebuilt the loom on my T16 conversion after the mess zippy made I noted the wiring colours and posted them on my website - http://home.btconnect.com/talkingcar...engineloom.htm

The colours are different on the different models but the functions are the same, you'll just have to identify the colours in the looms you are using to get a start.

Just to further complicate matters the cars I used were both dizzy and you are working with wasted.

IIRC the actual feed to the speedo on the ZS comes from the ABS ECU which in turn takes the info from the wheel sensor. If you are using the 400 dials you will need the sensor from it's gearbox, this is different to the Ti.

Not sure how you cruise control works but if it is like the system on the KV6 which uses the same engine bay components there will be a couple of control modules and lots of wiring in the loom so this might sway me to use that loom as much as possible.

Have you taken the exhaust off the 400 or are you using the one from the Ti?

I would be tempted to take the door cards from the 400, especially if the ones in the ZS don't have the colour panels. Also the rear winders and looms are worth taking as you'll be able to sell them.

Exhaust will be the standard (well stainless) ZS 180 with a Ti downpipe, apparently all that needs doing is a 3inch extension on the downpipe to mate with the standard Cat.

The only other option is simply not to fit cruise.... i would rarely use it, i just think it would be nice to have as much spec as possible !

Cheers for the link, i will go and have a look in a sec

The exhaust is pretty straightforward, I used the Mongoose off my R8 420, a Cookie downpipe with the flange removed, and a 100 cell Jetex cat, just enough to pass emissions and not soak up too much power.

Looks like a cracking conversion so far mate! Reminds me when I threw the Isuzu 1.7L TD in my Rover 414. Pain in the rear but well worth it in the end.

By any chance, the rear windows weren't electric as well were they?

On the 400 ? Yeah, electric rears, but the zs already has them !

Yeah...I used that lump when my HG blew on my 1.4L. Parts for them are cheaper and easier to get here in Malta. Here is a link to my build thread on another forum for my car (havent written one yet for the engine refit):

http://forums.mg-rover.org/showthread.php?t=491699

If you can't see the pictures let me know and I will throw it on here.

You wouldn't be willing to sell those rear door looms, mechanisms, and connectors to the centre console would you?

Christ that looks like a lot of work !

Um, if i can get the regulators out with no battery fitted, and if i can find the switches, basically we started to to take the rear switches and panels out... then i noticed the ZS had them already... so i have no idea what happened to the switches, they are probably in the car somewhere lol.

If i get a chance i will have a look and see what i can do.

Sounds good bud. For the regulators, unhook them from the loom and use a car battery to move them up and down with wire from the terminals on the battery to the pins on the motor. Let me know if you need help with anything!

Good luck with the conversion!
