wat is decat, cat back exhaust, back box......

could anyone give me some knowledge about the exhaust system, as my next stage is going to update the exhaust system of my ZS 120+ hatch.

I took a part-time job and got around 250 pound,
so that's my budget, is that enough to get a used powerflow/xpower/janspeed exhaust system?

Anyone can give me some idea, I'll be appreciated.

Decat, is to remove the catalytic converter (cat), like a small exhaust box that cleans up the car emissions.

Cat back, from where you have removed the cat and replaced it with a straight through pipe, so its the exhaust pipe, from there to the end of the tail pipe.

Back box, the silencer box. Can be replaced on its own.

Got my exhaust made up by Powerflow, stainless steel, from cat back, ?250.
Comes with a lifetime guarantee, just have to get it checked once a year by them.

Hope thats the info you wanted.

Wont decating a 120 reduce the power due to back pressure issues?
There are a few ss cat backs on ebay at the min... but I reckon if you get a quote from powerflow you might be suprised.

If possible go for a system designed for the car and avoid the likes of custom made systems like Powerflow unless you have a heavily modified car.

Stick with a Janspeed system or something if possible, they spent a good amount $$$ developing performance systems for your specific engine / vehicle with proved gains.

You really need to replace the entire system (including manifold) on a 4 pot K for good gains from a exhaust system. However not cheap! ?250 would probably only buy you the manifold new! Get checking ebay!

get a quote form MIJ exhaust , any one heard about this company?

this is the quote

This is Jay from MIJ Performance Walsall

Thank you for your enquiry.

The cat-back stainless steel exhaust system (mid & rearsection) you've requested for your MG ZS will cost ?284.99 this is fully inclusive of fuel discount (?25), vat & fitting. I've included a round tailpipe in the quotation, you can choose an alternative or upgrade (various twin tailpipes etc.) from our extensive range of 40 tailpipes if you wish. Or I can offer you a dual exit cat-back exhaust system for only ?375.00 all inclusive.

We carry all the necessary parts needed to build your exhaust system instore, so it should take no longer than 2 - 3 hrs to build & fit the system.
If you choose to wait with your car, we have a customer lounge with refreshments, SKY TV/DVD & internet access. We're only a few minutes walk from the city centre if you decide to go shopping etc. while we work on your car.

As your system will be custom built, you can tell us how you would like it sound, anywhere from quiet to full sport. Our most popular choice is a Mid-Sport, this gives the best of both worlds, not intrusive but achieves the sporty sound you want from your car upon applying the throttle.

find two dealers which are quite near to my place (Newcastle Upon Tyne)

one is powerflow, another is longlife.

I will get a quote form both of them.

I'm wondering which one is better ?

I may choose a dual exit cat-back exhaust system

thanks guys

Best regards

Jimmy
