Another thing to consider before leaping is the reason for belt noise, is it an alternator struggling with a dying battery, not uncommon to manifest itself on cold mornings first.

TBH, my battery could be getting down, it does sound like its struggling to turn over on cold mornings and also when the belt is wet, it slips then when I go up the road, it will squeal and get grip, then my lights and everything brighten up, obviously because the alternator starts working properly but I suppose it could be the battery at fault but I sprayed WD-40 on the belt and it stopped squealing so.. Not sure, we'll see once I fit the new belt..
