High Pitched Whirring Noise
As title suggests........ coming from the rear. Could this be the fuel pump/sender unit maybe?
If it is, is it an easy one or a pig?

I don't think so Dan, seems pretty steady and I can't hear it at higher speeds but that might just be the road noise drowning it out!

You should hear the pump prime for a few seconds when you switch the ignition on before you start the engine, turn the radio off beforehand.

Not gearbox noise, it's more like when you hear the fuel pump prime when you switch the ignition on but higher pitched.
