Wales Rally GB 2010

Took my Zed to wales to marshal on the event. Just about got him through the forests.........The low profile tyres not the best things on slippy, rutted gravel and mud!!!!

Boot took all the equipment and slept in passenger seat everynight, very comfy.

Few pics to show the different conditions, rained all way there, stopped when marshalling then rain on way to next stage, then stopped for stages and so on.
Got to fry up and eat in peace. He didnt get as dirty as my Rover last year.

Loved the welsh lanes, may have to go back in the summer!!!!!!!

Loving the boot full of grub there! So you marshalled the rally, so where's the pics of the rally cars!

That is one thing I miss nowdays, I always looked forward to watching the Lombard RAC Rally highlights late night on BBC2 hosted by William Woollard and excellent theme music by Propaganda.

Last rally I attended in anger was the 1986 RAC in Bath, spent the day at scruntineering and Cirencester Park stage, last of the great Group B cars. Have a load of 35mm pics somewhere.

Smile

Saw some of the Rally on Dave ( I think ) did look out for you Daytona, or a glimse of the Yellow Z. Looked better conditions this year, but caught one or two out.

Cars seem to fly now, guys cant have any nerves, flat out all the way.

Not allowed to take pics whilst on duty............. not one of these spectator marshals.
Shame cos the nationals went round the hairpin on saturday, very photogenic, especially the MK2 Escorts, with sideways drifts.

I agree the TV was better in the old days. Still I got all the images in my mind.

Must get him valetted this weekend, he looks like he took part lol.

First read the post this morning and was thinking about it on the way home, especially the TV coverage as I taped (well, sky plused) some of it from Dave but it's like only 30 minutes. The only real coverage of ralling on TV now adays is the Dakah.

The company I used to work for used to supply all the furniture for the organisers and hospitality so I was there several times, the last year I worked there I was in charge of all the event support so was all the way from Surrey to Wales and back almost everyday for a week either side (except the Sat and Sun). I was in the scruntineering tents at the start of the first day and was at "whatsit" arena for both runs through as we had to install the furniture before hand and remove it the same day. Sebastian Loeb crashed out on the second run through just outside the arena so had to wait until they had finished before being recovered so I ended up having a chat with him.

Another time we were changing the furniture arrangment in the marquee at Cardiff Docks while they were doing the duel runs.

And as for photos, I took loads in the arena but it was a little damp and I think this was what killed my old SLR.

tcb 180 will become famous soon enough
Pisses me off the rally does. Its been in wales for quite a few years now and the tv coverage is absolute *****. For gods sake this is an international event which brings fans from all over the world and millions of pounds into wales. Not being funny, but when it was the gb rally it got loads of coverage on tv.
